SAFARIS

Addo Elephant Park Half-Day

It is a completely malaria-free park situated just a short drive from Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). This makes it highly accessible for families and self-drive safaris, offering an excellent road network alongside more rugged 4×4 trails. Because the park’s boundaries extend into a marine protected area in the ocean, it is the only national park in the world that conserves the traditional Big Five (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo) alongside the Great White Shark and the Southern Right Whale. Aside from the massive elephant herds, the park is populated by Kalahari lions, shy black rhinos, buffalo, zebras, and a massive variety of antelope. You can also spot the rare Addo flightless dung beetle, a unique species that literally has the right-of-way on the park’s roads

The half-day safari includes a guide, park entrance, mini-bar, and snacks. But, no lunch is included.

The suggested itinerary is pick up around 7:25 from your accommodation, enter the park around 8:00 with your guide introducing local wildlife and history while you search for elephants, lions, buffalo, and more. Then, a braai lunch around 12:30, continue the safari in the afternoon, refreshments around 4:30, and depart the park around 5:30, with drop off around 6:30.
